Educator, Mentor
Kathy Greene is the Guest Experience Director at RETA, a pregnancy clinic and family resource center. Among her responsibilities there, she teaches trauma-informed classes, including a class entitled “Expressions of the Soul,” a class in which women discover their voices through narrative. Prior to joining RETA, Kathy taught high school English for 28 years until her retirement. During those years, Kathy taught students of all levels, from remedial English to AP and dual credit courses. Regardless of ability, her students shared one commonality: When they received authentic validation, when their stories were held sacred, they thrived, not only in her class, but in their next steps moving forward. One of Kathy’s greatest joys as a teacher of juniors and seniors was watching them take those experimental steps into adulthood and seeing them flourish. Although consistently referred to as a master teacher and leader in staff development, Kathy struggled with imposter syndrome. She knew the only secret skill she possessed was that of building trusted relationships with her students. She now takes that same passion and applies it to women who have experienced complex trauma in their past and are trying to heal from it. Through relational healing, Kathy has no doubt in our power to rewrite our narratives.
