Ordained Minister, Mentor, Counselor

Darial Sterling is currently the Training and Development Director for RETA. Darial also has a consulting business. He collaborates with service providers, leaders, stakeholders, and community members to help put systems and programs in place to reduce disparities among Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and all individuals who struggle with mental and/or behavioral health conditions. 

Darial graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s in psychology and has completed some graduate coursework in Counseling.  Darial is also an ordained Minister at New Vision of Life Church in Elkhart In, under the leadership of Pastor Marvin Pace. Darial has an array of mental and behavioral health work experience. He served on the Advisory Board of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children, for 5 years. He has worked in the prison setting, facilitating dialectical behavioral therapy group (DBT) sessions, community mental health and working with autistic youth, providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy.  He was in a co leadership role of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee with Oaklawn’s CEO to help promote health equity and produce organizational change. He also served as the secretary for the Racial Equity Leadership committee for the Indiana Council. Darial currently serves on the board of Maple City Health Center.

With over 17 years of mental and behavioral health experience and 11 years of experience as a Minister, Darial brings a unique set of skills to help build equitable and culturally responsive dynamics into infrastructures.  One of Darial’s life mottos are, “What you do will come back to you, so treat people like you want to be treated, not like they deserve”.
